The Clawson Club: Deegan's 1st birthday party (party 1 of 3)

Today we celebrated Deegan's 1st birthday! We had a small party at the park with a few friends and family. We are having a second little party on Wednesday (his actual birthday) at the park with all the mommies and babies from the mommy group and then a third party (yes third! We are going a little crazy for the 1st birthday but don't plan to do this many parties every year! It is hard when we have friends and family in 2 states) in California next weekend at my parents house with all of his cousins.

The weather was perfect for his party today! We had snow just 12 days ago, so I was worried about having to squeeze everyone in our little house. I have been checking the weather like crazy and we were so lucky to have a change in weather and it was a beautiful 65º and sunny day in Las Vegas today. We knew that with the great weather this weekend, the spot that we wanted at the park would fill up quickly. So we set our alarm clock this morning for 6:30am and Kevin was at the park saving our spot at 7:30am! It paid off because around 9am some lady came by and wanted to take it but Kevin wouldn't let her!

The theme for Deegan's party was baseball. We decided on that theme because Kevin and I both played baseball/softball growing up and have always loved the sport. We both have lots of good memories at Angels basball games and hanging out at the little league fields, so we had all the goodies that you would find at a baseball game for the party. We had sandwiches from Port of Subs, chips, homemade potato salad (my mom's recipe) nachos, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, Big League chew, sunflower seeds and licorice! I also made cupcakes and we had a smash cake for Deegan. We got the cake for free, since it was his 1st birthday from Glazier's Market!

And yes, I made....the cupcakes, the invitations, mine and Kevin's shirts, 0-12 photo banner, goodie bags and coloring books.
